The following are general steps of our methodology.
  1. Look at sales history (sales data and lost customer orders)
  2. Cleanup the data, remove outliers and erroneous data
  3. Analyze sales data to isolate trend (T), seasonal (S), cyclic (C) and random elements (R)
  4. Apply the events (promotions, festival offers, etc.) that marketing department is planning
  5. Develop a baseline forecast
  6. Re-apply trend (T), seasonal (S), cyclic (C) components
  7. Select the time-bucket size and time horizon
  8.  Select and apply suitable forecasting method for slow-moving, fast-moving products
  9.  Adjust the forecast by applying management goals
  10.  Ready the draft forecast
  11.  Review by sales and operations
  12.  Publish forecast (yearly, half-yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily)
  13.  Analyze forecast errors and revise the forecast continually
