Six-sigma

What We Can Do?

Six-sigma is:
  1. A statistical measure.
  2. A goal (3.4 ppm) and "Right First Time Every Time".
  3. A management system (DMAIC process) that attempts to attain world-class performance.
  4. A change agent.
The following are general steps of our methodology:
  • Evaluate your costs of quality (COQ) which are divided into: (1) Prevention costs, (2) Appraisal costs, (3) Internal failure costs, and (4) External failure costs.
  • Based on the COQ, categorize your company as a 3, 4, 5, 6 sigma company.
  • If you are at 3 or 4 sigma level, then you will set a goal to become a 6-sigma company.
  • Develop a roadmap, which typically involves:
    1. Collect and categorize all problems
    2. Filter and classify them in a "cause-solution" matrix
    3. Divide them into four groups: (1) "Do It Now" projects, (2) Small Group Activities (SGA), (3) Lean-Sigma projects, and (4) Stake In The Ground (SITG) projects
    4. Create an organization for continuous improvement by focusing on SS (Suggestion Schemes), QC (Quality Circles), Kaizen events, Six-sigma teams Monitor continually
    5. Train employees in six-sigma (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt certification)
    6. Implement projects using A3 management process or six-sigma DMAIC process
    7. Monitor continually
